Dishwasher Won’t Drain – What to do if your Bosch Dishwasher is Not Draining

What do you do if your Bosch Dishwasher Won’t Drain?

This seems to be a common problem so in this article I’ll do my best to show you what to do if your dishwasher is not draining properly or at all.

There are a number of reasons why your dishwasher won’t drain properly.  So here are some troubleshooting steps to help you decide what has caused the blockage in the first place, and help you correct it without having to call an emergency plumber!  (I had to do this once, and it cost me quite a bit of money.  In the end, he just hit a “reset”

button to get it working again!  Very frustrating!)

1. Check to see if the filter in the bottom of the dishwasher is blocked up. This is a main reason why your dishwasher won’t drain.  There is often food or even wrappers from bottles stuck to the filter and this can block the water from draining out of the bottom of the dishwasher and stop it from draining out.

2. Check the drain hose for blockages.  There is a drain hose which links the dishwasher to the “S bend” to remove the water.  Sometimes it’s behind a cupboard, or even under the floor, so search carefully.  It comes out of the bottom back of the dishwasher, and is often black, grey or white hose.  Be sure to check that it’s the hose that drains the water, not the one coming from the water supply.

Also, be careful that this hose, when disconnected, will sometimes leak water.  Get a bucket handy when you disconnect.  You will sometimes need a screwdriver (flat head) or even a pipe wrench to unscrew the joiner.  Most likely it’s just a pipe crimp and these can be removed easily.

Once you’ve got it off, blow through it, or connect it to another hose to blow out any blockages.  If your dishwasher won’t drain, cleaning out the blockages in any pipes could solve the problem for you easily.

3. Check your “S Bend” to make sure it’s not blocked.  This will be obvious.  Does water still go down your sink?  If no, then your S bend is probably blocked too, and this is stopping your dishwasher from draining.  Do a Google search to find out how to remove this (it’s quite easy) and get it cleaned out.  You never know, you might find something valuable in there! (I’ve heard of people finding wedding rings in the S bend frequently)

Once you’ve checked to find out why your dishwasher is not draining, make sure you run the dishwasher through a rinse cycle to clear out anything that might have been blocking the way after you’ve put all the bits back together.

Things to be careful of if your dishwasher won’t drain:

Unplug the dishwasher before you do any handy work.  Don’t want to get an electric shock while trying to fix the problem!

Get ready for water to be spilled.  Use towels and a bucket just in case.

Let others know what you’re doing so that they don’t go messing with the water while you’re pulling the sink to bits.  Nothing worse than a face full of dirty muck while you’re head deep under the sink.

Have fun!  It’s not often a hard problem to fix if you’ve got some determination.  So now you know what to do if your dishwasher won’t drain.  icon smile Dishwasher Wont Drain What to do if your Bosch Dishwasher is Not Draining

Choosing The Right Dishwasher

If you need Bosch Dishwasher Parts make sure you do some good research before you buy.  Getting non genuine parts can ruin your dishwasher and void your warranty.

Choosing the right dishwasher can be a tough job if you’ve just decided to get one.  I know from experience that I find it hard to live without a good dishwasher and if I don’t have one, I hate doing the washing up!

If you feel at all the same as me when it comes to finding the right dishwasher for your household, then you might find that it’s best to have a read and find out what kinds of dishwashers there are out there, and which one would suit you best.

Make sure to take your time when you’re deciding which one to get, and decide based on good reasoning, not just emotional reaction.  Although your emotions can help you decide which one will look and feel the best, it’d be a shame to have a dishwasher that breaks down in the first year of it’s life because you didn’t choose well in the first place.

Here are some dishwasher brands for you to choose from:

AEG, ASKO, Andi, Ariston, Baumatic, Belair, Blanco, Bosch Dishwashers all make quality dishwashers, so make sure to check them all before you decide.

Also, it’s important to make sure you check out what parts are available for each brand of dishwasher.  If your machine breaks down and you cant get parts for it then it’s very frustrating.  If you need Bosch Dishwasher Parts for example, you might try doing a Google search, and find that there are many results.  This can be a good indicator that there are many sites out there which help Bosch dishwasher Parts Customers.  If there are not many searches, then you might be better off going for another dishwasher brand.

Integrated Dishwashers by Bosch

21bH4sU3KfL 300x300 Integrated Dishwashers by BoschBosch, one of the leaders of manufacturing incredible appliances also offers integrated dishwashers.  What are integrated dishwashers?  These are the units that you integrate into your kitchen walls or cabinets so that it goes unnoticed, or so that it just blends with your kitchen as if its one of the cabinets.

Integrated dishwashers offer the advantage of being less visible than their freestanding counterparts.  Freestanding units stand out because they have not been customized to fit the kitchen.  Instead, its like it has been naturally designed to either just compliment your kitchen design, or to simply be different, depending on the choice of the owner.

Bosch integrated dishwashers can either be semi or full.  Semi or partially integrated Bosch dishwashers are not completely concealed by the kitchen doors and some of their controls are visible from the outside.  On the other hand, fully integrated dishwashers are totally concealed by their doors, and the controls are right inside a panel on top of the doors.

Fully integrated Bosch dishwashers can be quite expensive and over your budget.  But the good news is, that if ever you would really need to buy one unit, its not very hard to look for one that works mighty fine.  Also, you can’t possibly go wrong in choosing a dishwasher,  lots of brands may look different, but inside, the motors and the materials being used are usually of the same quality.

What makes a dishwasher expensive is its fancy covering.  The fancier more elegant design there is, then surely, it would be more expensive than the others.  Do not also be fooled by some designs that go for quieter units and as a result, dispense with the quality of cleaning it provides.   But of course, if the pocket is deep, then going with fully integrated dishwashers will be grand.
